sponsor a child
The Sponsor a Child project is aimed at supporting children from poor families in rural areas by ensuring that they have access to quality education and providing them with a food hamper each month. Additionally, an income is also generated for a member of the community who assists with the administration of the project.
With a monthly donation of R350 (around 27USD) a child will receive:
1. Health: a food hamper for each month consisting of well-balanced and nutritious food items such as fruits and veggies. 2. Education: school fees in order to assist in paying for the child’s education. 3. Job Creation: funding to employ a person from the community to ensure the project runs smoothly and the children’s needs are met accordingly.

Rural Reach assists those individuals who have the willingness and desire to become financially independent but don’t have the means to pursue the opportunities available to them. These individuals often fail to progress because of something that is no fault of their own. Sometimes it is lacking transport to get to an interview, not owning a computer which is needed to do an online application for university or simply not having access to information because of the remoteness of their town.
Rural Reach facilitates and encourages practical steps that might lead towards their financial independence. Whether it is compiling and upgrading a CV, or assisting them with university and bursary application processes, Rural Reach is devoted to the individual and is willing to do whatever is required.

Sturgeon County in Canada donated suitcases of clothing, shoes, and school supplies. These were brought over to South Africa by one of the staff members and was greatly appreciated by the local community of Lepelsfontein.
Thanks to a few special donations, Rural Reach was able to give all the new grade one students school shoes for their first year of “big” school. All the kids were really excited as you can see by the photo of Jacqueline above.
The girls of Lepelsfontein Primary School had previously been playing netball with no netball poles. Donors allowed our organisation to make and install two new netball poles at the primary school which makes a HUGE difference as the girls practice and play every day.
Revaldo’s mom approached us saying that her son was no longer going to high school because they could not afford the necessary school supplies, accommodation and school fees. Rural Reach was able to donate all the stationery he needed and covered his remaining accommodation and school fees so that he could continue his education.
Rural Reach handed out first aid kits to farmworkers and community members. Many rural communities are so far removed from medical facilities, even a small first aid kit can make a difference.
Rural Reach raised funds to purchase a refrigerator for Lepelsfontein Primary School. Previously the school chef had to take the food to her home to freeze, but now the school can store food long term (which is important when you live 80km from the store!).
After having received ablution facilities 3 years ago, Lepelsfontein Primary School could never use the facilities since the plumbing was never connected. Rural Reach raised the funds for and installed the required plumbing in order for the school to having working ablution facilities.
Rural Reach received a generous donation of clothing from Deloitte in Australia. The clothing was distributed among farm workers and community members who were in need of something warm for the cold nights.
